Lesson 1

Lesson 1 deals with your first impression that you are going to make when you walk into a restaurant. Normally a host or hostess is going to greet you. If not, you will see a sign that says "Please seat your self" If you don't see this sign, DO NOT keep walking and just pick a table where ever you like. The host or hostess usually has a few duties they are responsible for while at work, give them a moment to get back to the door before you decide to help yourself.

So given you come into the door and the hostess is there, let her say her whole little "Welcome to (insert random restaurant here). How are ya'll doing today? How many are in your party? Would you prefer a booth of table?"

It's going to go something like that. Let her say it all for christ sakes!! Don't just walk in the door, flash two fingers while saying the word two like your spitting at her! She's asking you important questions that she needs to know to do her job properly! If you do this, the first thing she's going to do is warn your server your cranky or mean.

Now lets pretend the host or hostess didn't ask you if you prefer a both of table. When they are taking you to where they are going to seat you, do not stop and point or say "Oh I want this right here." That is rude. They are taking you to a certain table for a reason, not just because they feel like walking all the way over to the other side of the restaurant. Unless you are elderly or injured, let them seat you where they are going to seat you. When you stop and tell her where to seat you, you are messing up the rotation of seating. This means a server who should have gotten sat, now isn't because you just can't be happy with letting the hostess do their job.

Thats it for Lesson 1, look for Lesson 2 tomorrow!

Introduction

I've been thinking about actually sitting down and writing this blog for what seems like forever.

As you can read, I'm a disgruntled waitress. I'm 23 years old and work at your typical family bar and grill type place. I've been an employee for 5 years now while trying to finish my college degree. I've seen more outrageous behavior from guest in my time at this restaurant, than any other I've ever worked in. Because of that, I've decided to start this...series of lessons to help people out. Think your waitress is disgruntled and in a bad mood? We'll you probably did something to make her that way and you didn't even realize...
